Footage from last night’s show circulating on social media today shows Von saying he‘s having “a long month.” Original source could not be determined.
NEW YORK — Attendees from Theo Von’s Netflix special taping last night at the Beacon Theater in New York say something was off. According to multiple social media posts, Von repeatedly left the stage, restarted stories, and forgot the punchlines to his jokes. A post on the subreddit r/Comedy titled “Theo Von just BOMBED” now has over 27,000 upvotes.
Attendees say the event ran over by about an hour, and that around a third of the audience walked out before the show officially ended. They also question whether Von was under the influence of drugs or alcohol, or whether his nerves got the best of him.
“Theo Von interrupted his own set something like ten times last night, either to disappear backstage for 30 seconds, or to ask a producer the punchline to his own joke. He was exhausted, anxious and clearly under the influence. It took him six tries to get through one anecdote,” said Milo Yiannopoulos on X.
Andrew Court, who says he walked out during the taping, said in an X post, “He seemed unrehearsed and disorganized, repeating bits multiple times clearly trying to get it right for the camera. This killed the vibe in the theater.”
Additionally, a video from the show was shared on social media where Von was heard to say, “I’m having a long month, I’m trying not to take my own life,” while speaking to an audience member from the stage. Reactions to that video are mixed on whether the comment was intended as a joke.
