After delivering two strong performances from both its defense and offense, the Los Angeles Dodgers have advanced to the National League Division Series. There, the team will face the Philadelphia Phillies. The Dodgers have not met the Phillies in the postseason since the 2009 National League Championship Series. In that series, Philadelphia prevailed in five games.

During the 2025 regular season, the Dodgers encountered the Phillies six times and finished with a 2-4 record in those matchups. Oddsmakers still list Los Angeles among the favorites to claim the World Series title.

Meanwhile, in the American League Wild Card Series, the New York Yankees fell to the Boston Red Sox by a score of 3-1 on Tuesday. That narrow defeat stemmed largely from dominant starting pitching by Boston’s Garrett Crochet. The Yankees responded strongly the following day with a comeback victory.

The matchup stayed competitive from start to finish. Red Sox starter Brayan Bello allowed two runs before managers pulled him after the third inning. For New York, Carlos Rodón worked six innings on the mound but permitted two runs in the third along with one more in the sixth.

New York’s go-ahead run crossed the plate in the bottom of the eighth inning. Austin Wells lined a single to right field, allowing Jazz Chisholm Jr. to race home from first base. Reliever David Bednar preserved the lead in the ninth by inducing a fly out followed by two strikeouts.

The decisive third game of the Yankees-Red Sox series begins tonight at 8:08 PM ET. The winner earns a spot in the American League Division Series against the Toronto Blue Jays.
