Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James concluded a remarkable stretch of consistent scoring on December 4, 2025, during a 123-120 victory over the Toronto Raptors. The 40-year-old player finished with eight points on 4-of-17 shooting from the field, marking the first time in 1,297 regular-season games that he failed to reach double digits.

James’ streak began on January 6, 2007, following a rare low-output performance the previous night. On January 5, 2007, while with the Cleveland Cavaliers, James tallied eight points in a 95-86 win against the Milwaukee Bucks, his only other regular-season game with fewer than 10 points until the recent contest. The subsequent game against the New Jersey Nets saw him score 19 points, launching what became the longest such sequence in National Basketball Association history.

Over the 1,297 games comprising the streak, James accumulated 35,142 points, according to career statistics compiled from official league records. This total reflects an average of 27.1 points per game during that span, underscoring his sustained offensive dominance across four teams and multiple eras of the league. For context, the previous record belonged to Michael Jordan, who achieved 866 consecutive double-digit scoring games from 1986 to 2001.

The streak nearly ended earlier in the week during a loss to the Phoenix Suns on December 2, 2025, when James managed exactly 10 points in 31 minutes of play. Lakers coach JJ Redick noted the close call afterward, highlighting James’ focus amid the pressure. Yet the true conclusion arrived in Toronto, where James entered the final minute with six points and the score tied at 120.

With 0.9 seconds remaining, James drove toward the basket but opted to kick the ball out to teammate Rui Hachimura for a game-winning 3-pointer. “LeBron knew his record streak of double-digit scoring efforts was in jeopardy. And in the moment, he didn’t care. The right play was to pass the ball—so he did,” an Associated Press report detailed, capturing James’ prioritization of the team’s success. Redick later reflected, “The basketball gods, if you do it the right way, they tend to reward you,” emphasizing the poetic nature of the assist that sealed the victory and ended the streak.

James now holds nine regular-season games with fewer than 10 points in his 1,569-game career, a testament to his scoring reliability over two decades. The Lakers improved to 14-7 with the win, continuing their strong start to the 2025-26 season. As James approaches his 41st birthday in December, observers anticipate further milestones from the NBA’s all-time leading scorer, who has surpassed 42,000 career points.
