The New York Giants have fired head coach Brian Daboll. Given the team’s 2-8 record so far in 2025 and recent criticism of Daboll for questionable management of rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart, the Giants issued a statement on Monday announcing a change at the head coaching position as the best move for the organization.

“The past few seasons have been nothing short of disappointing, and we have not met our expectations for this franchise. We understand the frustrations of our fans, and we will work to deliver a significantly improved product,” wrote president John Mara and chairman Steve Tisch in a joint statement. Assistant head coach and offensive coordinator Mike Kafka will serve as interim head coach. The team will now explore options for a permanent replacement.

Daboll began his tenure as head coach of the Giants with a strong 7-2 start in 2022. He earned the 2022 NFL Coach of the Year award after guiding the team to its first playoff berth in six years and first postseason victory in 11 seasons. However, subsequent seasons brought disappointing results. Daboll concluded his time with the Giants holding a 20-40-1 record.

Before leading the Giants, Daboll held various coaching positions throughout the NFL, including roles with the Patriots, Jets, Browns, Dolphins, Chiefs, and Bills. He served as offensive coordinator for the Bills from 2018 to 2022, contributing to the development of quarterback Josh Allen.

The Giants also confirmed Joe Schoen will retain his position as general manager. “We feel like Joe has assembled a good young nucleus of talent, and we look forward to its development,” said president Mara.
