Cody Shane Detwiler, also known as “WhistlinDiesel,” was arrested Wednesday on a state charge of tax evasion. The felony charge was brought by the Grand Jury for Williamson County, Tennessee, which alleges that Detwiler and his company, WhistlinDiesel LLC, failed to pay state sales tax when purchasing a 2020 Ferrari F8 Tributo.

Detwiler is known for “durability test” videos and others in which vehicles are pushed to their limits and driven recklessly, often on his Tennessee property. The stunts frequently involve coveted vehicles of considerable value, including the Ferrari, which caught on fire as part of a 2023 video. Detwiler has over 10 million subscribers on YouTube, where his most popular videos have amassed over 35 million views.

On Instagram, Detwiler posted a video and photos of him being arrested by numerous law enforcement officers on his property. He maintains that he has paid all required taxes and never received notice before the arrest. Bond was set at $20,000, which was posted by Detwiler’s team the same day. Detwiler says that a court date has been set and that he will be giving active updates.

Correction: A previous version of this article stated that Detwiler’s bond was set at $2 million. The bond was in fact set at $20,000, with an error on the Williamson County Jail website displaying the amount incorrectly.
